The Guji Zone in southern Ethiopia sits apart from larger coffee-producing regions, separated by mountainous terrain and limited infrastructure access. This geographic isolation has preserved traditional farming practices and slowed agricultural intensification, allowing coffee plants to mature under largely undisturbed conditions. Farms are positioned at mid-to-high elevations where cooler nights and extended ripening periods encourage sugar accumulation within the cherry, producing natural sweetness depth without aggressive acidity. In the cup, Guji coffee offers rounded fruit sweetness, a silky mouthfeel, moderate acidity, and layered flavour progression. A refined, balance-forward profile that performs particularly well in light to medium roast applications where sweetness clarity is maintained.
